Hormann sectional garage door query
Discussion
I have a couple of questions about a wide double insulated Hormann sectional garage door which I had installed about 5 years ago. I've tried Google but it is not much help.
I've noticed that the door is not sealing properly around one of the top corners. There's maybe 1 mm on the top edge and perhaps 2mm on the side. When the door closes it seals properly everywhere but then reverses a small amount which creates this gap. Elsewhere it's fine. I'm wondering whether this reverse is on purpose for some reason (maybe to protect the seals from getting crushed)? I can't remember whether it has always done it.
The second issue is that I've also noticed a gap where the bottom seal seems to have been cut short by about an inch. Not sure how I missed this when it was installed as it's an obvious fault. Does anyone know whether the bottom seals are installed at the factory or by the fitters (who were nice guys but clearly a bit slap dash)? Would help in deciding how to deal with it.
TIA

Thanks for the thoughts. Everything is very solid fixing-wise. So not that. Do you have a Hormann door - if so does it reverse at the end of the closing process?
I can get the manual out and try resetting it but I was hoping to get an opinion of whether it should be doing what it’s doing first!

Ours doesn't reverse at all when it gets to the closed position, but it does sort of "twitch" slightly as it switches off, if that makes any sense.
FWIW ours also has a small gap where it doesn't seal properly on the top panel. I had someone out to service it a few years ago, and they didn't seem to be able to improve it. I think all the possible mechanical adjustments are already right on the limit.

Mine is 5 years old, self installed, on the rear brick face; not the internal access faces.
It seals properly on the garage floor, with the supplied seal which I fitted.
The upper section is on its own separate guide, and drops down after all the other sections have rotated down their guides to the final position, a small thunk is heard as it drops into place.
Mine has the optional Bluetooth module, so once installed I can verify the exact positions of it as it goes up and down..
If yours ain't sealing on the last panel in, I'd suggest the rollers on that panel need to be realigned, and the height/stroke of the motor is adjusted to let it fall properly, then let the system learn where it should go to full/nothing either way.

That’s interesting. How old is “older”? Mine is about 5 years now.
It’s a supramatic e3, not sure on age as it came with the house. I just ran through the reset and learning cycles and it still does the same backing off at the end of closing. Edit to say that it has Made in 2013 on the side of it.

OK thanks. Mines an E4 made in 2020. I’m going to give Hormann a ring and see what they say. Edit to say that it has Made in 2013 on the side of it.

Thanks for this. Mine works the same way with the top section being on its own guide. The door slows before that section closes. I’m pretty sure I don’t have a Bluetooth option but I’ll look out the manual. It seals properly on the garage floor, with the supplied seal which I fitted.

It’s definitely the reverse which stops the door from sealing. I’ll see if I can reprogram it to improve things.
Update for anyone interested.
I've found that mine does have the app / bluetooth (thanks Grey_Area). Once that's set up you can see the operator settings which includes one to adjust the reverse function. This can be adjusted in 4 stages from none to long. Mine was on medium. Short is recommended for best thermal outcome. The reverse function is to release the pressure on the gearbox. I guess you can adjust it between summer and winter if that floats your boat.
I also adjusted the frame and inserted some spacers between that and the brickwork which has helped close the gap in the top corner completely as this was still out by a couple mm or so even after adjusting the reverse to short.
The seal at the bottom is still wrong and apparently it's £40/m which is annoying (especially as the door is 5m wide) - will teach me to be more fastidious about checking work. There was a lot going on is my excuse!
