Looking for help as I am torn as to which car to purchase.

I have the choice of a 2011 X3 SE, 103k and FSH with the chain replaced last year all documented or a 2013 X1 also with 103k and FSH but cannot see any record of a chain replacement.

Both are Xdrive with 184bhp and automatic.

Both are the same price around £5700

Thanks everyone

I can't see any reason to purchase the X1 over the X3 here, what makes you consider the X1?

As above I'd be choosing the X3 everytime it's the better car.

I've had both

I had a 2011 X1 which I replaced with a 2015 X3

I'd take the X3 all day every day

At that age and mileage I’d buy private from someone who has owned it for a while and has excellent service records and for whom you have a good impression of. If it’s some BCA acquisition being punted out of an old petrol station forecourt then it’s a bit of a lottery but regardless get a proper independent PPI.

No, not at all

I've had my 2015 X3 for ten years, other than recalls and two rear springs it's needed nothing but routine servicing in 115k miles

I had an X1 for 5 years and 60k before it and likewise

We also had a 14 plate 320d that we ran for 120k miles in four years and likewise just needed servicing

The X3 is a much better car - I've on my 4th over 20 years.

My son has an X1 and to me it's just a bit small.

We went a 2015 X3 20d and it’s been brilliant.

Rear spring broke which we never noticed until MOT picked up.

Honestly built like tanks and provided it’s been serviced and continues to be I have no doubt ours will continue to run.

Definitely full service history and buy on condition.

Parts & servicing are horrendous in price, especially here in Australia.Sure purchase one, but once warranty runs out, give it the heave ho. Use to know a carpenter with his own business, owned Lexus most of the time, when he went to change over, gave BMW a look, he went straight back to Lexus, fantastic customer service, never had issues with the car, exceptional build quality etc….
