Great motor - much nicer than an X5M to drive truth be told. Make sure you get one with air suspension instead of the standard coils as this makes it ride so much better.
I used to get about 25MPG - not great but would touch mid 30’s on long motorway runs. Comfort pack (or plus pack now with the latest M60) is essential for the comfort seats which are significantly better than the sport seats. Tech pack, pan roof and M Sport Pro also essential for me.

Found most are well spec’d but finding the air suspension fitted is difficult… especially when it must have a dark interior, for kids and dogs, although if they did silverstone with the black back of seats that would be perfect
25mpg is better than the GLE which has averaged 22mpg over 4years and has never got above 30mpg.
M50i is looking promising

I have one, bought new and coming up for 3 years old.
I deliberately didn't want the air suspension - test drove one and it felt very blancmange like and disconnected with the road, didn't like it at all, so went with the adaptive M Sport set up.
Ticked quite a few of the other option boxes though - Tech Plus Pack, Comfort Pack, Visibility Pack (Laserlights - Great!!), B&W HiFi, Pan Roof, Winter Wheel & Tyre set.
The car is a great workhorse - trips up to my place in Scotland in all weathers and road conditions, hauling kids stuff to and from Uni etc. It's comfortable, has a great cabin, handles tidily and is very quick - to the point that I'm not sure why anyone would want anything faster in this type of car.
After owning multiple BMW's for best part of two decades, this is the first one though that has had any reliability issues. A brake control module failure error saw it in the dealer for well over a month with a couple of failed attempts to sort it, and then parts on back order from Germany. Top service from Sytner though, waiving some other maintenance fees, and several hundred pounds worth of complementary items when the car was finally fixed.
