If you have any change to the vision in the eye get an appointment with an optician.

I had a couple of retinal tears recently only symptom was more floaters than usual.

All sorted very quickly

Thanks

No vision issues bit today it is read all around, usually just an area, was spending some time itching etc, but I think this might have been an other issue, might book a doc appointment

N pain either but I can tell if it swollen and maybe a little sensitive

Most areas will have NHS funded schemes where local Optometrists will see people with eye conditions such as red eyes, floaters, sudden changes in vision free of charge. Depending on the area it may be called CUES, MECS,PEARS in England, WECS in Wales.
Primary Eye Care Services covers a lot of England, they have a telemedicine number and can find you a local practice.

Generally GPs surgeries will direct you to an Optometrist for eye problems, as we generally have the necessary equipment/training to examine you.

Did your floaters get sorted by the NHS ? The doctor at the eye hospital that saw me said he had floaters and even he couldn't the NHS to fix them. I had to go private for mine in the end.

I got the retinal tears fixed which caused the floaters but not the floaters themselves. I was toal that after a while you notice them less as the brain ignores them

I once woke up to the entire white of my eye blood red.
I went into town and straight to specsavers who very kindly saw me with no appointment and did a thourgh examination for me within an hour of turning up.

Turns out it was nothing too serious just a burst blood vessel but it did freak me out a bit when I first woke up.

Do you have high blood pressure?

That is exactly what I have sherman, whole eye is red, a little weird feeling but no pain, stings a bit if I wash it, but I think the same thing probably.

No vision issues, just a huge feeling of everyone is looking at me!!!

What time did you call them ? Needs to be 0800 exactly at our doctors to even stand a chance of an appointment that day. When I did get an appointment they just said they don't really do eyes, so told me to go to A&E at the local eye hospital. Tbf they were really good there.

Where are you ? I am lucky, living just outside Bristol, so we have various specialist hospitals within a few miles. I have to say, before we moved here I hadn't heard of an eye hospital before.

I have just contacted them, was very good, no wait, sent a link to upload a picture, diagnosis by brief call and message within 10mins. With suggested medication.

Say what you want about the NHS, but that is fairly brilliant.

I used to have issues fairly regularly with dry itchy eyes turning really nasty, including a trip to a french A&E with the surface of my eyeball bulging up.

You need a decent optician that will do a dye test (not sure if most high street ones will)

Turns out inside of my eyelids are rough. Luckily for me opticron hay fever drops sorts them

I had blocked ducts in my eye at Le Mans this year. The circuit medical centre gave me drops to get me home, but I had the full dye test at the Bristol eye hospital.
Top tip - Look in the mirror before walking out of the hospital after the dye test !

Fully agree. Seen high street optician in Northern Ireland on the 2nd May Bank holiday. See next day in eye casualty in Belfast trust - they tried laser to stop the tears getting worse. They weren't sure that it would work so by Friday I had cryopexy to fix them properly

My first retinal tears were fixed within 24hrs, when the other eye went I saw the Consultant in the morning and was on his table after lunch (both times the tears were too far gone and needed vitrectomy)
