Short journeys, spaniel wagon, interesting, less than 5k

Pretty much the title. I need something that is capable of short journeys, used intermittently, capable of carrying my spaniel and me. Would like it to be interesting... This has lead me to look at BMW 130i, Jimny's, Panda 4x4s etc. Would like it to be reasonably reliable but I don't want to hate it.

Bonus if it can tow around 1500kg but not a deal breaker as it ... might not tow.

Budget is under 5k. Could push this higher for the right car.

Daihatsu terios? 1.5 petrol, 4wd, auto or manual, should be reliable, just check for usual things like rust. Can tow up to 1350 apparently.

Volvo V50 or V60, both estates, if you're only doing short trips go for the petrol versions.

I'd find a Jimny which isn't rotten and enjoy, great cars
