Anyone taken a C4S to the Vmax days at all?

LOL at nervous

C4S - looks like a turbo, goes slower than a turbo

Vmax - lots of 996 Turbos

Result - pointless exercise perhaps?

I'm sure you'd get a good 160 out of one. I imagine they are 1-2mph slower than a normal C2 or C4 coupe because of widebody drag. See what Autocar/Evo say re top whack.

A long time ago when i took my 993 C4S to Vmax and there was a yellow 993 Turbo S there (Paul, remember that?), my car achieved 147mph (with around 285bhp) and the Turbo S achieved 167mph (with around 450bhp) on the same day.

I'm sure VS realises, but I was talking 996s... better aerodynamics and all.

I've driven a few 993 C4Ss, inc at the ring (thanks Ian!) and they are really great all rounders. One of the best all round Porsches I can think of. Just not that quick Vmax wise compared to other Vmax machinery.

PS, Pete, your old C4S is still going strong with Mick; saw it a month or two back

Not an accurate measure, but my mates '02 C4S was consistently slower than both my Tuscan S and a standard Tuscan in our Le Mans convoy this year.

It was also slower than the '04 C2 with us.

However over the 5 hours or so we spent hooning down to Le Mans there wasn't a whole lot in it.
