A battle: caterpillar vs wasps
Discussion
On my trip to France, I noticed this striking caterpillar, and it looks like it was slowly eating what looked like quite an old dead wasp. It was hard to tell exactly.
A short while later, there was one wasp having a pop at the caterpillar, and not long after joined by another. I wasn't really sure what was going on, it did look like the wasps were trying to sting it, but I couldn't work out if the caterpillar was remotely bothered or not. It occasionally moved in the sort of way you might fling your arm to get a fly to bugger off and the wasps would leave then come back.
Should I have intervened to save said caterpillar? Or was it not remotely bothered by what was going on?
