Daimler buys Brooklands
Discussion
From the Sunday Times yesterday:
"Daimler Chrysler has bought Brooklands, the famous Surrey track regarded as the spiritual home of british motorsport. The car giant will turn the 150 acre site into a Mercedes "brand centre", where customers will be able to see exhibits on the history of the marque, tour the Brooklands motor museum, and drive Mercedes cars on a new track....The purchase price is thought to have been more than £5m. The deal is conditional on Daimler Chrysler obtaining planning permission for the redevelopment of the site."
Hmm...I'm sure Daimler's intentions are in the best interests of the old circuit, but a Mercedes brand centre in the "spiritual home of British motorsport"???
Anyone know any more about the deal? Couldn't find anything on the Brooklands web site.
