The 'fleet' is nearing the end of its transition. This time last year we had 3 cars - P3 XC70 D5, Gen 3 CRV i-VTEC and the 'toy' - a Volvo C30 T5.

Over the past months we've sold the XC and CR-V. The XC was replaced by a 1.2 Clio (for my daughter to learn in), CR-V replaced by a XC60 T6 3.0 and we bought a Caddy Maxi Life which we're converting into a micro camper/bootjump.

We plan to put the C30 up for sale this week. As good as the wee Renault and Caddy are theyre not my XC70 Armchair that was a pleasure to drive back and forward to work (18 miles each way. Motorway, often nose to tail traffic at rush hour)

Looking for ideas for a 5k commuter. Prefer comfort nowadays over handling but still want overtaking power. The cars we gave currently seem to average between 30-35 on a run. So would like a 40+mpg Reliable/high milers considered. So far thinking of a S60/80 D5, V70 D5 or Merc C/E350 Diesel. 1800+kg towing capacity would also be ideal as I dont want to put a towbar on the T6!

Anything else I should consider?

Cheers

This seems like the perfect question to pop in the smoker barges thread chap. I'm sure a few members in that parish would be more than happy to help. MPG aside, a Lexus LS of some sort sounds like it would be good for your purposes.

Thanks. Ive been an avid reader on there in the past. That said im not sure if my current choices (being diesel) would be allowed - id probably be chased with pitchforks and burned at the stake before a diesel would be allowed!
