Sold my Yaris GRMN a few months ago now, and have been without a fun car since then.
Picked this one up yesterday

It’s my mum’s car and had been in her garage since lockdown. She’s recently been very ill and has admitted she won’t be driving again, so got this a new battery and MoT and drove it home from Shropshire yesterday.
Idea was to give it a clean and take it to WBAC, but it is far too good for that. Not sure what to do now…

Is there a pairing process for when you get a new key? haven’t done it since a mk1 focus but had to put a key in the ignition and do a combination of turning it on and off which put in the car into programming mode.
As your keys starts the car it means the chip isn’t fried.
I had rented one of those smarts for a few weeks when needed an auto. Was lots of fun around town and enjoyed the semi auto feature more than full auto.
Although I was going around a third of the M25 and sure it increased my blood pressure when looking in the rear view and seeing a lorry so close but in fact probably wasn’t any closer to me than when in my other car.
It was a hit to me when hearing one of my parents talking about giving up their car due to illness, all the best for you and you mum.

Thanks. There are loads of key learning / re-pairing processes on the web with slight variations. I’ve tried them all! I think I’m going to disconnect the battery and start again. As your keys starts the car it means the chip isn’t fried.

My mum had a heart attack and then a stroke, and was in hospital for about eight weeks. Back home now with carers but still a long way to go for her. It’s been tough for her, and I’m a couple of hours away which doesn’t help!
