Hi all, I'm looking at purchasing a 2015 2.0 Amorak, roughly £10k to spend and this seems to be best available at that price. Milage is 128k. Father is getting on and has a small farm so need to help out, but also have kids so need space for them in the back.
Is there anything I need to look out for? Timing belt, DPF issues common in the Amorak? Is a 2015 a reliable year?
My first car was a golf and it ran like a dream...never an issue with in in 10 years and I bought it second hand. I'm hoping an Amorak is similar.

I believe that this generation of Amarok is just a rebadged Ford Ranger, I don't think there is anything VW in there. So look for the reviews and reliability reports of Rangers to get an impression.
If you are planning on travelling long distance's with kids in the back, make sure that they can get comfortable; the seat backs are quite upright and the seat bases are quite short. A good friend of mine had one as a family vehicle and his kids hated the back as it was uncomfortable.

3rd gens/current year are based on the Ford Ranger platforms, the (2012 - 2023) ones were not.
2.0TDI is a good unit, goes pretty well. I've driven my father in-laws quite a bit, he now has the 3.0 V6 one on a 2018 plate which goes even better but I would be happy with a 2.0.
Things to look out for, just make sure they are maintained, water pumps leak and EGRs can block, basically normal diesel related things. They are great workhorses I think.

Bought one brand new in 2013 and sold it last year - did over 100k miles (light usage). Always had it fully serviced at main dealer. It was a great car and extremely reliable apart from a common fault at approx 50-60k miles - something to do with EGR and water loss I think. It was out of warranty but because 1/ it was always serviced at main dealer, and 2/ VW was aware of the issue, they paid approx 75% towards the cost to repair - which I think was approx £2k. I have heard the guy who bought it from us (local chap) has had issues with rear axle leaking and cost to fix from VW being 2-3k so might be something to be aware of.
Although the Amorak served us very well.. at that age I would buy a Toyota. I think also the Isuzu's are supposed to be quite good - underpowered but reliable.
