Found this by accident, season 1 was ok but 2&3 are brilliant. Think Sopranos meets Shameless in LA

Anyone else watched it?

They say

Running for six seasons, Animal Kingdom is one of the most underrated shows of the past decade. Based on the 2010 Australian film of the same name, Animal Kingdom premiered on TNT in 2016, ending its incredible run in 2022. Following Joshua "J" Cody, a 17-year-old who moves in with his estranged criminal enterprise family after the death of his mother, Animal Kingdom is a gripping crime drama that features a variety of twists and turns throughout its six seasons.

Well worth watching, if you can watch the Australian film first

It's very good gets a bit bogged down mid-series, but really picks up later on.

Also, bonus Series III Jag XJ appearances & a decent soundtrack for the '90's flashbacks.

I found the Aussie original film difficult to watch after the series.

Really enjoyed it as well.

Just to add (for those that don't have Prime) that I watched it all for free on the U TV website.

Not sure if it's due to my ad blocker but there wasn't any adverts either which was a bonus.

I'm now watching 'Sons of Anarchy' and 'The Shield' also on U TV.

Plus it’s got the coolest jeep ever, the IH Scout 2 - looks amazing in LA less so in Liverpool I’d guess.

Just finished it and it’ll be hard to replace. No likeable characters but one very unlikeable one I wished dead.

Any suggestions on what to watch that’s similar?

Sons of Anarchy (motorbike gang, LA based) is also from the crims perspective - it gets a bit silly but overall is decent.

Snowfall (drug dealing empires) is very good & set in 1980's LA.

LA/Cali police/crime: Bosch (+ spin offs), Southland, On Call etc.

Not LA, but there's the best of the lot: The Wire.

Cheers chaps, I’ll try Sons as I’ve done a few of the others.
