Hi, I've got another slight problem I can do without.

A couple of weeks ago I ordered two manhole covers for my new patio which promptly arrived in a couple of days, I didn't fit them right away so I had no idea if they were the right ones or not. The very next day another two turned up, these were exactly the same type, I wasn't in at the time and they were just left stood up by my front door, I thought at first maybe they had sent the wrong ones at first and attempted to collect the first two but they are all the same, just a duplicate delivery.

I could have said nothing and they would probably never have known but I messaged the seller through Amazon and let them know. the next day they replied with a picture of an address label for me to stick on and said a courier would be along later that day to pick them up, however I've not used my printer in ages and last time I used it it wouldn't work properly, seemed to have ink, just wouldn't print in straight lines, its years old and I never use it nowadays anyway. I tried printing a label but it just came out a mess.

The courier turned up as expected but wouldn't take them due to the label, I suggested to the seller that he print a self adhesive label and post it to me and I'll stick it on and give it the courier, he said no. I then suggested he use a different courier that prints their own label and again he replied that he can't do that. I could go out and spend £30 on ink but that might not work, or alternatively I could go and buy a new printer but why would I when I never use it, certainly not printed anything in the last couple of years. But even if I did print a label off it would need sticking to the cover with tape and as I cant stay in forever I would have to leave them outside for collection and if it rains the label will be useless anyway.

What do I do next, its £100 worth of manhole covers.

You're in a hole.

You should have ordered a manhole cover to cover up the hole you're in.

Go to the local library and get the label printed there for about 20p.

This thread is not about manhole covers.

This thread is not about deliveries.

This thread is not about collections.

This thread is about computer printers.

Get a budget colour or monochrome laser printer as the toner "ink" does not dry up.

Printer units often cost less to buy than a new set of toners.

Manhole covers are round so that they can't fall down the hole.

You’ve offered a reasonable solution, but the supplier is not interested enough to send you a label. It’s not really your problem after that.

They are square actually but why should I buy a new printer, I sent time researching these covers and managed to get them for about £30 less than anywhere else, if I've even got to buy more ink it will make my research and bargain hunting time pointless all due to someone else's incompetence and lack of flexibility. Cant see why they cant post a couple of labels out to me, it would cost them 20p for a stamp instead of £30 for me.

That's the way I see it, if I print it I will have to wait in for them which isn't really an option unless that want to come in the evening, I may well be in or I might be out, I never know with my job. If they post a label out to me I can stick it on, leave the covers outside and hopefully they will be gone that day.

Sadly it’s the way PH has gone. Every little thing in life must be discussed and approved by committee as the OPs are too socially awkward/spineless to sort it themselves.

For example, in this instance is clearly to state to the seller - come and collect within a week or I take them to the tip. Ps I don’t have a printer.

Returning them is basically not your problem! So either the seller provides a means of you applying a label to them or they don't get them back. You've been decent enough to tell them you received two extras when they likely had no clue but for them to get them back, it's on them really.

My mum received a parcel just left on her doorstep, had part of her name on and address was correct but no signature etc. Turned out to be a £500 bottle of perfume which she'd never ordered. I said, keep hold of it and wait to see if anyone gets in touch in case it's a scam, which it likely was. She did the good deed and called them. In the end she spent 3-4 months back and fourth with the company, they tried getting her to go to the post office, printing stuff. They almost implied she was responsible for returning it.

She eventually spoke with the CAB who told her it wasn't her problem, the company was responsible for collection. She relayed this message and after all the fuss they told her to keep it.

Ah sorry, I'll just stick to the important threads from now on like teaspoons (506 pages), or aftershaves (222 pages) or the most important page of all, the trivial life problems thread (839 pages)

You don't know anyone with a working printer?

You don't have a working printer at work?

Does the local library offer printing?

Are there local shops that offer printing?

Yes, but why should he bother when the sender can't be bothered to do the same after already wasting his time by their mistake?

Seriously?

Even my old 80 year old neighbour had a working printer in his house.
