Hi,

I've confused myself regarding offsets for my e46.

I want a set of 17's for the track but am reading conflicting things regarding the size and fitment.

I want to run 17x8J all round and cannot use more than a 15mm spacer (ideally I wouldn't need a spacer).

What would be the ET range I could fit?

Apologies for the basic question.

All E46 alloys are here with their specs, weights, offsets etc: https://www.auto-treff.com/wcf/index.php?tagged/53...

Work off those and 15mm spacers should be spot on

I'm about to fit 17x8s all round on my E39 for winter, with Goodyear all-season tyres and will be running 15mm spacers all round

If you don't want a spacer; you're best looking at wheels from the likes of JRacing etc; Bola too; as you can get them with custom offsets

If you're going to track the car and need spacers, ensure you run a stud conversion

Maybe me being a dunce but I can’t see any offsets on that site.

Some alloys say they fit an e46 with ET15 and others say ET50. Surely ET15 cannot fit???

My car is a 330 Ci race car with stud conversion.
I’m after some aftermarket 17’x8J wheels.
Somebody must know what sort of offset this should be?

I’m so confused.

Style 44s are 8x17 with 47 offset, they're standard fit. Going off my 330Ci vert with 225 width tyres you could go maybe 10/15 mm further out at most before you start catching the rear arches, there's not a lot of room to play with and that's with the non-sport suspension and higher ride height.

The ET15s are more likely M3 fitment, they have wider track by reducing the offset.

As an example - 17" Style 32s for an E46 here: https://www.auto-treff.com/wcf/index.php?article/4...

Specs: 8x17 / 225/45R17 / ET 47

So I'd say tyres keep OEM sizes unless you want to mess with the willtheyfit calculator and then offset standard is 47; I'd say going as low as 30 is as far as you'd want to push it; but that's also down to how lowered you are; tyre sizes being run and whether you've rolled the arches at all etc

For aftermarket wheels, as an example - 2Forge wheels here on driftworks.com - https://www.driftworks.com/2forgezf1-alloywheels-1...

You can choose custom offsets from 10 - 50

2 members on here that track their E46s are @sf_manta and @tombate911

Deffo worth speaking with them if you can
