So, i've finally binned Sky after over a decade.

Our new FTTP fibre broadband connection was installed last week and i've binned off the Sky Q box and gone with a Firestick.

Overall, it's gone brilliantly. It's also enabled me to re-locate the TV to a position in the Lounge that I couldn't have done before due to cabling routes, and the Firestick so far is fantastic, the Live TV feature is an added bonus I wasn't aware of.

Happy days.

I just have one niggle - my soundbar.

Previously with the old Sky Q box, I never had any issues with the soundbar, but since going from a SKY Q box to a FireStick, the soundbar doesn't "wake up" when the TV is turned on (same connection method - optical cable direct from TV to Soundbar) so this needs turning on separately.

I can't think why it would make a difference and can only assume its the type of HDMI signal

Not a biggie as I know it's only one extra button, but it would be nice just to only use the Firestick remote and not have to use the soundbar remote too

Anyone else encountered this ?

Slight hijack but I'd be interested to know if you use IPTV on your Firestick.

Thanks, I'm thinking its HDMI-CEC related - I need to check both TV and Firestick settings

No just vanilla apps, early days so far.

Plug the soundbar into the TV via the HDMI ARC port. It's also better quality than optical.

Sadly only optical input on the soundbar, but now sorted, thanks all.

Switched the TV from "optical soundbar" to Optical "Speaker" and the wake command now passes to the soundbar.
