Solo business trip
Discussion
Hi all
Every year I go on a business trip to visit suppliers and customers. I always struggle for places to go. I have a few favourites but looking to broaden some horizons.
I’m writing this on the 87th floor at the Grand Hyatt Shanghai (few beers in) having had a bit of a disappointing meal in the hotel. Any recommendations for food and some lively drinks for the next few days?
I’m on to Colombo next which I know a little bit. But advice always welcome.
Next is Singapore which I know well, very stuck in a rut licking a few places, like the Quey for dinner and drinks opposite Marina Bay Sands.
After that Dubai which I just can’t seem to find anywhere interesting to go.
All advice welcome and any expats kicking around who want a free beer get in touch.

Get working with chatgpt for travel plans - lay out what you are looking for and watch the suggestions roll in.
I used it as a companion in Japan recently and it was excellent - sorting out places to go / providing maps etc, it was like having the most knowledgable concierge at my fingertips.
If you don't like what it comes back with, just keep telling it, and it'll iterate to whatever you find interesting.

Big Food markets in Singapore, or get the boat to bintan for a round of golf Every year I go on a business trip to visit suppliers and customers. I always struggle for places to go. I have a few favourites but looking to broaden some horizons.

Dubai - there’s a decent choice of Indian restaurants, ravvi’s in Karama, or the hotel with the canals has a decent selection of restaurants
Was in shanghai over a weekend returning from a factory visit further south. Booked a city tour which I ended up being the only person on and got a private tour of museums and the city, which was great. Last night, I found an Irish pub, the blarney stone, the expats were a great bunch and remember staggering back to the hotel very late with an early flight.

I'm a big fan of the Gazebo chain of Indians in Dubai - their biryanis are top notch. They seem to be in most malls nowadays, or very close by.Dubai - there’s a decent choice of Indian restaurants, ravvi’s in Karama, or the hotel with the canals has a decent selection of restaurants
