Morning All,
We have an 8 acre small holding with a 17 Century farmhouse and numerous outbuildings, we keep horses, organic lawnmowers (sheep) and don't have any public rights of way across the land. We are currently insured with NFU but over the last 3 years the premium has gone from £1100 to our latest renewal at £1700. I know NFU are the ones to have in the event of a claim but I'm struggling with the constant 10+% increases... I've even reduced some of the cover (ride on's, ATV's etc) to keep the premium somewhere sensible.

I know there are a few small holding owners on here and I was wondering who you are insured with? Do folks do things separately - contents with one company, liability with another and buildings with another...or should I stop moaning as £1700 is actually ok!

Are you operating it as a business at all?

No we aren't, the property is classified as mixed-use but it is not a "working farm". The liability is due to live stock and the potential of them escaping and causing damage to property that isn't ours!
