Best bodges you have seen on a TVR

Does not have to be your car .. but don't name & shame.

I was asked to look at a fellow club members chassis .. and it did not look good but was able to make the guy laugh his socks off at the bodge holding his radiator in.

A lenght of stout rope had been used as the bottom radiator mount.. nice job too :hehe:

He said the last owner was a police man.. well the bodge is all right then :D

I know a guy whose 280 has the electric fan bungee'd to the radiator... it runs with about a thou of clearance

He's been promising to fix it ever since he got it 3 years ago.... haven't you Steven?

My S1 Tasmin had had the sill tubes repaired with an old box spanner and a length of chrome dining table leg.
I did the job properly, with a length of scaffold pipe and some pop rivets Only kidding

Another Wedge..this one was at Austec having what remained of its exhaust replaced. At some point it had been fitted with cardboard "heatshields" between inboard (rear) brakes, exhaust and the suspension frame.

Yeah, but they were covered in Tesco Value tin foil when I put them on there how was I to know it was going to rain and the cardboard would go soggy!

I fixed a friend's Alfa Spyder wiper mechanism with a series of cable ties holding the linkage together about 8 years ago - still going strong......

Too many horrors to list... the highlights include...

1) A Cerb exhaust held on with bungee cord (centre section) with foil to protect it from heat(?!?!)
2) A Griff with a tumble dryer extractor hose (it was white as well) used as an air intake
3) An S with some sort of neoprene and a jubliee clip on the swirl pot
4) A Chimaera with two tyres rotating the wrong way
5) A poor copy of a Leven badge.. looked like someone had used nail varnish...

I don't whether to laugh or cry... when will people learn that you can't run a TVR on 79p a year...

Thaught my old S2 had been bodged when I looked for the fuses ...... speghetti wiring everywhere ..... then found out they were all like that

My drivers wing mirror is still held on with electrical tape and has been for 500 miles since I knocked it off with the blunt end of the gearbox swinging from the engine crane.

Glove box was held closed with a folded piece of carboard for a while until I fixed the catch.

I ran round with a throttle cable in my old Griff made from part of a sailing dinghy and a bit of a mate's garage door.

The original broke on the way to the aforementioned friend's house and we were in a hurry to get to the pub, so we made it up and installed it in about 45 minutes.

Finally replaced it with a proper job because my wife did not trust our bodge, and my mate wanted to open his garage door!

Guilty as charged, mine has been like that for about a year. When I first got the car I phoned around every where for a key, no luck. You have just reminded me.

My last cerb had a great 'bodge'. Before I bought it the oil pressure was kept artificially high by someone leaving some bits of broken oil pressure relief spring in place and shoving a new one on top. Engine was chewing itself up but the oil pressure remained good.
The garage recently referred to it as having been a dead engine prior to my purchase.
So I guess it was a bodge of sorts?!

At the other end of the bodge scale, my 390 has a vacuum advance pipe made from an offcut of pipe normally used on the fuel system of the Learjet...

Straight from the factory..the bits of hose propping up the pod when raised and lowered!!
