So after some quick thinking yesterday have decided to sell the DB12 after 6 months - don’t get me wrong, love the car but can’t explain just feeling a little underwhelmed by it and have decided I want a car that I’ll feel less precious about and looking to purchase a new Porsche Boxster 4.0 GTS. Have had two Boxsters before and I think the 4.0 is a great car to have.

So let’s see how much I lose in 6 months even after having got £40,000 off of list plus some money back last month after a few niggles.

All the best on your next car move. I know this one has had you on edge a few times. I would be interested in seeing the sold result if you are willing to share.

Will you be trading this one for the Porsche at a main dealer, or selling the DB12 outright?

Aston have said they are interested in buying in - so far best trade offer I have had is £172 which isn’t that bad but let’s wait and see.

I feel weird doing this as I know we are meant to feel like we are in a fortunate position to have such cars but tbh I don’t really feel it. Kind of have that been there, seen that attitude.

Don’t know what I’d feel about a Ferrari mind you - let’s see

You think that’s what they will offer? Do you think it’s worth advertising this type of car privately?

Sorry to hear that the DB12 didn’t do it for you and the frustrating initial niggles.

The GTS will feel a lot more compact and useable - I considered a Spyder before the Vantage, but couldn’t live with the idea of having to stop to put the roof back up - think no hard shoulder motorways.

As Porsche have just announced they’ve stopped producing the Cayman and Boxster you’ll be restricted to the pre-specified ones they have on stock so be quick in looking and choosing.

Let us know how you get on.

….I don’t suppose that Vantage key cover and other bits are still around are they?

Surely your car must be worth more than that.
Is it only 6 months old?

My Lada Niva has recently been valued at 182 Pounds and 39 Pence, including half a gallon of petrol and it has a heated rear window, so useful when pushing the car in cold weather.

Sorry V8 please send me your details again and I’ll try and sort it.

Happy to admit the car was listed at £245 and we got it for £205 - so as much as we can get will make the transition easier. Hopefully close to £180 would be perfect

hehe

Jon got it. I was hoping to take advantage of the lack of a 'K' to 'grab a bargin' as they say. Curses. But you have to try...

Overall, yes in theory you'll get more in a private sale - there's no profit-making middleman - but the problem at this level is the amount of £ required and people fret about warranties so selling to a dealer would certainly be much easier.

I've never tried to sell a DB12 but I think my plan, if you're not doing a p/ex, would be to contact several dealers, see what they offer, how much you can talk them up and then do the deal.

Thanks everyone.

We advertised our 911 (992.1) this year and we had loads of offers and then a dealer came to us and offered us £5K more. So I might try it and see

Good luck, right on the cusp of the season, perhaps worth calling around all dealers.

What did wbac offer, sometimes they are good.

WBAC £166, Motorway £169 and Car Wow £173. I’m tempted to put it up on Autotrader for £180 and see what comes back

Just advertised it and doing as you all have said so that more people can see it. Have advertised it for £182,500. It’s a unique colour for an Aston, so let’s see

I sold back to AM dealers three times less hassle and a decent price.

You need to contact at least 3 AM dealers as in my case prices were £10K difference between dealers.

There are eight DB12 Volante for sale at AM dealers at the moment £200K is top listing the dealer needs £10k margin so £175K to £180K should be achievable.

If you're not simply selling to a dealer then don't forget you can advertise on PH smile

Sad to hear that, your decision is the most important but i cant imagine how a porshe can replace such car, sorry and i m concerned if the porsche will really please you. Sorry to say so. And if you sell it back later on you will keep loosing more money. While i think the AM hold their value better than porsche but if on top something happen. Anyway you know.

If you buy new and change your mind. It will cost with any brands.
I paid 96k euros my car in 2016. Soon 10 years after i can get easily 67k for in france for a lhd with the services done. Calculate the depreciation in 10 years 29 k euros only...

This is what i will have done geting an used db11 that will have gone through these tiny things..or even a rapide s in uk. You could get both for the gt4 price? The porsche sound like a toy in compare you ll get tired. And for me the presence is so much less on the road. But again i dont want break your feelings.

Just had 3 now and one of my friends feels the same - he sold his 25 plate Vantage and loved the cat but didn’t feel any sadness selling it back. Pretty much how I feel. We have an M4 Competion Convertible as an everyday car and we can now use the Porsche more often too - haven’t made my mind up yet what to do.
