Around the middle of June, I got some phone reception whilst half way up a mountain in the Yorkshire Dales confirming that I'd just purchased this:

It's now floating about somewhere in the South China sea.

About 50K miles, Japanese service history and (finger crossed) just in need of a bit of paint to deal with some lacquer peel on the plastics.

It's replacing my venerable Legacy BP5 GT, which I ran for 9 years and took from 60,000 to 140,000. Big shoes to fill, that car just did everything I wanted.

Yeah, only way they came! My BP5 was an auto, very much by choice as it's my daily / bimble about car. It'll just be down to how I find a TR690 CVT vs the 5EAT. Honestly, I've not got this one to be the last word in driving involvement, just something practical that's a bit different and easy enough to look after and run daily (touch wood, and all that).

I was very much fishing about the 5th Gen Legacy as well (and trying to avoid the ones with the complicated nav / amplifier arrangements wink ) but the idea of having the option to bolt on bits from the WRX/STi sounded fun and I understand the Levorg boot space is a match for the 4th Gen I had.

Will be interested in what you think of the new box...

Are these smaller than the Gen5s then, I thought they were quite similar in size. I do occasionally think it would be nicer to have something a little smaller!

Yeah, lots of messing to get the Macintosh upgraded headunit working with an Android head unit. But the built in sub is nicesmile

I think it's all of 100mm shorter in length and wheelbase.

Annoyingly, it's 5x114.3... everything I have is 5x100. So I had to pick up these for it:

Although I'm currently between subarus, I keep looking at the gen 5 legacy and the faster JDM Levorgs. Really interested to see how you get on with this.

Always angry they don't bring a levorg wrx to North America, would be my perfect car for practical fun in the canadian winter. Have a great time with it!

Tyre for it are here.

I've now got to 3 stacks of wheels/tyres to juggle. Trying to get rid of them!

245 40 18 Cross Climate 3 sport - It's an STi fitment (with the wheels being an extra 13mm offset).

Great choice of car OP and cool colour choice, hopefully the autobox will be a good one - I found my Crown one to be very good. What makes a GT-S different from a regular one?

Looks really tidy from the picture. I'm looking out for one myself but still undecided on whether to go for the UK 1.6 Levorg or the JDM 2.0. Very tempted to give Torque GT a tickle and get one imported or wait for one to show up at a good price.

The Japanese import 2.0 GT-S and STi come with a 296bhp FA20 turbo engine and slightly stronger CVT auto box to handle the higher torque. The ones officially sold in the UK and EU are either a 1.6 turbo with 168 bhp or from 2019 they changed to a naturally aspirated 2.0 with only 147 bhp. Easily spotted as they don't have the bonnet scoop.

Same drive train as the WRX of the same model year, there is an sti variant too but they are typically double the cost of the GT-S.

I've got a 2016 Levorg and I love it.

Really like the CVT gearbox, don't know why some people don't as it's extremely smooth.

It is terrible on fuel though despite it's modest performance (170 bhp).

Subarus are always terrible on fuel.

Depends where your goalposts are. My Legacy GT did 30mpg, which I never found ruinous for a big estate with permanent 4x4.

Might have been the Pajero I moved onto Subaru from had some influence on my expectations.

My forester sti managed 34 mpg on a run from Belgium back to the UK a few years back. And it was driven at around 75-80mph for most of the journey...

I have a 2004 Impreza WRX. Recently fitted a set of the new this year Michelin CrossClimate 3 Sports. At the same time as an oil change so no independent variables, but more than 10% better economy which is not to be sneezed at.

So, just how economical are these Levorgs in everyday driving?
