Hi all,

3 weeks ago we bought a 2007 (B7?) 2.0TDI 140ps Mutitronic A4 cab as a cheap run around until my wife’s new car arrives and with a view to keeping it as a fun(ish) 3rd car.

We’re both used to relatively new cars with good brakes, these aren’t great. We’ve had the fluid changed and discs and pads are in great shape, but I’m wondering what would be a good cost effective upgrade to improve stopping power as we’re planning on getting a mild (170-180bhp) remap as it’s slow. My understanding is they’re already 320mm discs.

On the subject of remaps, does anyone have any experience of the Multitronic box’s reliability post engine remap?

The multi chronics aren’t exactly reliable as standard I wouldn’t want to be pushing them harder.

However you could get a fwd 3.0 diesel with around 215bhp in early c7 a6s so could potentially handle it?

At that power level I wouldn’t worry about upgrades, and focus more on good tyres and good pads / fluids refreshed etc

Be more worried about the multitronic and keeping it happy.

Thanks for the replies, it’s on Pilot Sports and I’ve had the brake fluid changed already, pads and disks have loads of life on them, but it’s still not great at stopping (comparatively).

I’ve had a major service and the cam belt done already too, I’m wondering if a fluid changed on the gearbox is worthwhile? I’m not expecting it to be a DSG, but a small improvement would be nice, I’m also under no illusions it’s a sports car, but a small improvement in overall performance would be nice, if just to make overtaking a bit safer.

Fluid changes on these are essential to minimise borkage.

You are right they arent a DSG - theres no "gears" at all.

Looks like that’s the next job, it’s got full Audi history to 2022 but no sign of gearbox fluid change. Fluids blooming expensive though!
