Nice but so it should be for a starting price of 90 grand.

It’s a rival to the Taycan/Emeya which will be similar in size.

Definitely a Taycan and Emeya rival. At first glance it looks a bit less practical than the Emeya, with a smaller boot opening. But would have to see it in real life.

Interesting that the interior styling and infotainment looks more in line with Polestar 3 than 4, which doesn’t inspire much confidence in reliability! Portrait touchscreen is less practical too I think.

Passive damping on the base model and Magneride dampers on the Performance model. Both on coil springs. No air or Ohlins then and no torque vectoring like the 3.

It could be another bargain once they have a fleet of demo cars on sale. I can see these going for £60k after 6 months. Lease deals could be interesting too. I can’t imagine ordering one up for list price on PCP though.

One to watch for a while I think. I wouldn’t want to be an early Guinea pig based on their track record.

Interior is a bit of a same old same old Polestar. If you’re going to charge this much for a high end Chinese EV at least give us a high end product with integrated wrap round screens and tech. This looks boring.

Did you change your mind about it looking like a 2018 v90?

That’s because they are more or less the same system, although Polestar has its own interface.

Integrated screens look pretty, but are usually less practical to use. I would rather have a screen in an optimum position. I would prefer a landscape screen though for this kind of interface.

I prefer the landscape screen too, however one drawback is that stuff on the far left of the screen can sometimes be a bit of a reach.

This seems to have a slightly different interface to the 3, which in turn is completely different to the 4. It’s odd that they aren’t focussing on standardising it across all their models (although I guess the 3 might get this interface as an update at some point).

As for wraparound screens etc. Polestar is about minimalist Scandinavian design. If I wanted chintz I’d go to Mercedes.

Yeah, I think the simple floating screens fit their Scandi style perfectly. The 3, 4 and 5 all appear to be on different underlying platforms and the 4 clearly has a different infotainment design team.

I was expecting tbe 5 to be on the same platform as the 4, with identical infotainment but it doesn’t look that way at all. It has a mash-up of PS 3 infotainment and interior design, PS 4 style seats and PS4 exterior design. All on a bespoke platform!

The UK market for this must be pretty tiny. They are obviously not going for volume sales here.

Agree. I think you'd have to really want the 5 specifically to not just get the Polestar 4, which seems to be 90% of the car for 60% of the price.

It’s certainly an odd product line-up they have now. The 4 was already competing with their more conventional 3 SUV and now we have this fastback also competing with the 4. All on different underlying platforms too! It’s as if Geely is using Polestar as an R&D centre laugh

I’m also amazed that Geely developed 2 different bespoke platforms for the Lotus Emeya and this Polestar 5. Was that really necessary?

What colour do you want your "Flagship"?

Colour being the operative word...

Oh.

Porsche must be breathing a sigh of relief. 2.5 tons on bespoke aluminium architecture, 150kg more than their 6+ year old Taycan. Over 2 meters wide and 5 meters long...seats 4! laugh

This is one of the things that put me of the PS2, just a really dull selection - would be nice if even one of the greys had some pop to it. Maybe it's a part of their brand identity, but puts me off

It’s going to be more spacious inside than a Taycan though. If I bought a Taycan it would have to be the Turismo version and that looks a bit quirky and yet still quite cosy in the back. This is more of an electric Panamera really and I think it looks better overall.

Yes! It’s still got similarities but I dug out some old pictures and realised I was mistaken. The V90 interior had that Scandinavian minimalist vibe and was a lovely place to be. The Polestars just missing detail.

I appreciate the Scandi chic thing but it just needs a little more for me. I’m on my second EV a Smart #1 Pro + and I do 2k miles a month in it. I will at this stage likely replace it with the Premium or Brabus next to get a few more toys. Most stuff is controlled from the screen but I couldn’t have a Volvo EX30 as it devoid of any interior features.compared to the Smart. This Polestar is just internally bland to me.
