V8V REAR VIEW MIRROR WIRING
Discussion
Hi
By accident I have discovered that the rear view mirrors on the Vantage are physically the same as those on many Jaguars.
I originally wanted to retrofit an auto dim mirror and read on here that various ones will fit. A Jaguar X Type mirror has the same size ball and socket as the standard Aston Mirror so this is one possibility. I managed to obtain a damaged Aston auto dim mirror and although externally identical the ball and socket is larger. This however is the same size as on many later JLR mirrors which are readily available and look a little more modern, to me at least.
I have now got hold of an XF mirror with Homelink buttons, from a UK car, and am hoping to fit this to my 2008 Vantage.
My question is, does anyone know the wiring configuration on the Aston plug? My wiring diagram is for a 2007 car and doesn’t appear to show this.
The Aston plug has four wires, white, grey, black and yellow. I assume white is power, grey, reverse inhibit, black, ground but am unsure on the yellow?
The Jag plug has five wires, red, grey, brown, white and black.
If anyone can help I would be grateful.
Regards
Chris

When I bought my VH platform 2009 Vantage it came without a rear dim mirror, I ended up getting hold of a Volvo mirror that had the auto dim function, the wiring for the mirrors in the car is all there, it just needs to be released from the bit of tape holding it in place, once down its a simple plug n play operation. I would have thought the plugs on the Jag mirrors would be the same as used by Aston and Volvo at the time.
Something like this:

Although, this is an Aston part and comes with the Aston tax ... The one I bought was about £100.

Hi
Thanks for the reply.
The Aston and Jag plugs are the same, the Aston has one yellow wire which I am unsure of it’s function. The Jag has no yellow wire but a white and black which I believe control the dipping door mirrors which the Aston doesn’t have of course. The yellow wire is in a different position to any on the Jag plug hence my query.
