Aston Martin celebrates 60 years of Volante
New Anniversary Editions of DB12 and Vanquish get Q division revamp
We should have seen this one coming, really. With the recent debut of the Vanquish Volante, Aston Martin highlighted that 2025 marked 60 years of the Volante name. There’s no better occasion for a limited edition than a big anniversary, and Aston Martin is keen to create more special derivatives from now on - and they weren’t exactly shy beforehand, from Red Arrows to 007. So here, hopefully to nobody’s surprise at all, are the Aston Martin 60th Anniversary of Volante Editions. Snappy.
There will be just 60 units each of the new Q-fettled Vanquish and DB12 (remember the Vantage drop-top is a Roadster, so isn’t here), each boasting ‘a unique specification… inspired by Aston Martin’s rich heritage’. So they’re dark green (Q Pentland, to be specific), with a Q Westminster Green hood and an interior of Centenary Saddle Tan, Ivory and Woven (whatever colour this is). There’s also 60th Anniversary embroidery, Dark Walnut Open Pore veneers and some bronze accents. Quite a traditional spec, you might say, for the latest breed of ultra-modern Aston Martins, but kicking it old school probably isn’t a bad idea when celebrating 60 years of a name.
The bronze theme continues throughout the anniversary editions, including milled-from-solid side strakes. Anodised in-house as well, Aston reckons they’re ‘a masterstroke of form and function from Q by Aston Martin’. Check out the enamelled ‘Q by Aston Martin’ badge beneath each one, too, to show off that this isn’t just any old green-over-tan Aston.
The 21-inch wheels on both are bronze, of course, with diamond-turned edges. Even the vaned grille up front gets the colour change, serving as ‘both a visual centrepiece and a vital performance element.’ Both DB12 and Vanquish Volante are pretty arresting cars in standard spec; it would be fair to say that these Q-fettled cars raise the bar even further still.
Vanquish and DB12 are mechanically unchanged for the 60th Anniversary editions; no bad thing given they are, respectively, the best V12 and the best modern DB sports car Aston has made. They’ll both do more than 200 and drive with all the panache and swagger that an Aston should, so there’d be no need to change anything. For what it’s worth, the Vanquish is said to be the ‘zenith of raw performance and presence, the ‘12 ‘an uncompromising balance between pulsating dynamism, unmatched ride comfort, and ultra-luxury refinement.’
Jolyon Nash, Aston Martin CCO, said: “Volante is one of Aston Martin’s most evocative names, representing six decades of the ultimate open-top driving experience. With the 60th Anniversary of Volante Editions, we’ve created a truly exclusive celebration of that legacy — bringing together the raw power of Vanquish Volante and the refined versatility of DB12 Volante in a way that speaks directly to our most discerning customers. These cars are the embodiment of rarity, performance and craftsmanship that define Q by Aston Martin.” A price hasn’t been announced for either 60th, though given the significance of the anniversary and the involvement of Q, there’s surely going to be a fair premium over standard. But like everyone said to your Mum, you’re only 60 once. Deliveries will commence from the end of this year.
Might as well come with a badly spaced "007" plate.

The Volante version at least mitigates the rear of the Coupe which I still can’t take to.
In reality am not convinced that the buyers that Aston need are really driven by the Bond thing these days given as they need to entice perhaps a different buying demographic but they equally need to reduce the debt pile so anything that they can make and sell makes sense.
Having bought 4 new Astons from 2 different dealerships the word Bond or indeed any connection to has never even been mentioned in my experience.

But yes, have one scrubbed and sent to my room.
Am sure Q would be delighted to quote you on a normal Vanq for the same which whilst not as “ collectible “ ( in itself a separate debate ) would still need you to be sitting down to get hear the price.
When I specced my GT8 they were offering then anodised knobs in a colour of your choice and iirc the price then from Q was circa £3k so today who knows but I imagine at least double that.
Articles like this make me realise I am too cynical to be a successful motoring scribe.
I could not write sufficient positive prose about these and other special editions and limited upgrades manufacturers constantly churn out.
I mean, when was the last week without someone offering a limited version of something and charging a premium for it.
And also the language used in official press releases builds up an inner scorn I never knew I had. I’d probably be kicked out of the first car launch I was invited to, for calling the marketing team a bunch of pretentious w

Quite like the look of the car though and particularly the wheels. Just not the rest of the association.
Well done Matt for managing where I’d fail without being a total sell out.
