BBC said:
A local businessman has criticised the controversial Carbuncle Awards after Port Glasgow was named Scotland's "most dismal" town.

The Inverclyde town, famed for its shipbuilding past, is the latest recipient of the Plook on the Plinth trophy.

Urban Realm, the architecture journal behind the awards, said it was an area of "squandered potential".

But Kevin Green, from PG25 which is celebrating the town's 250th anniversary, called the award a "poverty safari" and refused to accept it.
I've been there. It's not great...

Even the Tesco is grim. The town only really exists to make you grateful to reach Greenock and that’s saying something.
Wonder if anyone has ever worked out how much extra pollution the convoluted dog-leg round the retail park mentioned in the article causes versus the straight path the road used to have.

On the plus side, it’s no longer dominated by Sturgeon’s Follies given one of them is (occasionally) in service and the other hidden behind the shipyard.

That's putting it lightly - other than The Ropeworks apartments (which would go for a tidy sum in a nice waterfront location), the place is an abject sthole. Even going along the road to Greenock feels like moving up in the world......

My missus once got ID'd in the Tesco there when she was buying a lottery ticket.
She was 37 at the time.
I told her it was because she still had her own teeth biggrin
