Be careful when taxing your car. I got lazy and did a google search, clicked on official looking link. FIlled in reg on site that looks like the .gov one. Only when I got to payment, then the penny dropped as I checked the URL.

Take care people,

JC

That one has been around for years, the latest one is if you tax monthly, messages claiming that the first direct debit could not be collected.

Yes. And some of the clever scammers get in there before the official Gov UK ones. Same when looking at MOT history or tax due dates. Ensure that you go for the legit one. A few free Gov.co.uk sites where scammers ‘ get in first’ , charge a fee and then have your details.

There is a BIGGER scam. It works like this:

The government sends you a vehicle tax bill once per year, which you must pay in order to use your vehicle on the road.

But, once you've paid it, they don't repair the roads on which you have to drive.

I’ve had this quite a few times fkers.

Recently selling a car on Facebook 8 people tried to get me to buy a vehicle report for them on some dodgy site.

Indeed. I found I’d unwittingly signed up to a standing order where around half my pay goes to some lot called PAYE.

Don't forget to get recieve some abuse from someone who quite possibly pays significantly less than you in VED because you decided to cycle to work one day and they don't like how cyclists don't pay.

An electric bicycle is one thing, that photo is an electric motorbike that should be taxed and insured
