Does anyone have any experience or reccomendations for getting a DAT scan for Parkinsons at a private hospital?

Family member in a lot of pain but its a couple of months to wait for scan on NHS and this is inevitably delaying treatment.

Would prefer to get private scan to bump thinks along quicker so they can get treatment asap

I directly haven’t had experience of the scan but my oldest friend had suspected Parkinson’s and rather wait months he paid privately for a scan in Surrey (Trinity Medical Imaging in Sutton) and he got an appointment within a week (I drove him to the appointment) and results within 72 hours.

Had a similar issue a few yrs ago and tried to find a dat scan provider - there were none in Ireland other than the nhs in Belfast. They have to fly in the radioactive source from the uk. What pain is your friend in?

A lot of pain daily, lost a lot of weigh. Probably about 4 stone now. Slow mobility and feels like waiting for scan and then results on NHS is going to make them deteriorate further when hopefully medication will make a lot of difference.

Can’t really drive atm so stuck in house and bored out of their minds as they live quite rural.

Sounds like the earliest they’ll even get on a waiting list for a scan on NHS is end of October. Which on all likelihood means some time next year for an actual scan.

Trinity is the provider I’ve come across so hopefully be able to get onto them on Monday.

Any idea of cost? Not that that matters to much he just wants to be able to get down the pub for a few pints with his mates

I think he paid approx £2.5k last year.
