Mystery object stuck to my window

Dear all

I’ve just bought a Mazda mx5 ND and am really happy with it!

But stuck to the window was this octagon thingy. It looks fairly innocent to me and I’m assuming I can peel it off (it’s stuck on very hard!).

Question is - what as it for, can anyone put me out of my misery and identify it?
