Northern Scotland Cabin with a dog
Discussion
Not sure if this is the best place to post this, or whether posting in the Scotland sub-forum would be a better bet.
It's my partner's 30th birthday next year and she's decided that she'd like to do a cabin/AirBnB type holiday in Scotland for a week. She'd also like us to do this trip with our dog, a 6 year old Doberman.
We've visited Scotland many times before but never ventured further North than Braemar.
Some criteria that I've come up with based on various things she's mentioned:
- Needs to be dog friendly
- Would like a hottub
- Be able to visit some sights (castles, manor houses, woods etc)
- Be able to visit some lesser-known/under-crowded beaches
From the above, I've started to look at AirBnB and found some examples below of the kind of place I think she'd like to stay

The problem that I've come across with the above places, the majority that I find and like the look of are No Pets Allowed.
A few questions I have:
- When would be the best time of year to visit the North? (She is a teacher so restricted to school holidays)
- Could anyone recommend some areas to look at?
- Could anyone recommend dog friendly stays that they have used that tick the criteria?

On the when question surely you'd want to be close to her birthday? For a big birthday some years back we had a cabin with a hot tub in Skye in winter. It was idyllic with snow around but a nightmare getting there as main roads were ok'ish but the final single track roads were very slippy and the snow posts so you know where the road actually is invaluable.
If ever again it'd be summer as option 1 then spring or autumn as option 2.

I did think birthday, but....her birthday is November, so either October half term or Christmas half term. If ever again it'd be summer as option 1 then spring or autumn as option 2.
We picked up my GT4 in May from Edinburgh and drove up into the Cairngorms and the weather was great.
I'm leaning towards April Easter half term would be the best time to go or the last week of May half term.
Also happy to visit places like Skye, doesn't have to be on the mainland.
We are both looking to change our cars next summer, current lineup is A3/S3 for her and Discovery 5/BMW X5 for me so rural shouldn't be an issue
It might be worth asking the Scotland forum, but it's not as busy as it used to be.
We stayed here when it was on Airbnb and a damn sight cheaper, it was dog friendly then - so maybe drop them a line, to see if they still allow dogs, no hot tub however. You're not far from Ballater, Balmoral and Loch Muick. You can climd Lochnagar or do the Pyramid walk at Crathie.
