Not intended as a distraction from the awful events yesterday in the US.

Any attack on any politician in a democratic country is wrong, full stop.

‘As well as apparently extensive damage to the building, Vermont House, there is graffiti on the side of the building reading: “328 days blood on your hands.”’

Outrageous.

Can someone cleverer than me work out the motive/excuse for this from the graffiti?

Pretty sure that was 2023.

It’s arson on a building. The graffiti is old.

So for all we know this isn’t motivated by politics or even the MP etc.

It could just be a moron burning something, or a mentally ill person, or whatever else.

Plus they look to have North facing solar on the roof?

I can’t open the Guardian link on this device (don’t ask me why, it makes no sense but there you go (it’s a work-supplied device)) but I can’t see reference in the discussion above about an arrest.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cp3qwpe93yzo

so wondered if it had passed you all by.

It’s not very clear if the arson was targeted at the MP. At the moment it’s a bit of a mystery. An obviously stty situation whatever is behind it.

Fwiw 328 days takes us back to mid October of 2024.

Local news saying graffiti is old (from September 2024) but the windows were bricked last week. Man in 20s arrested on suspicion of arson.

The fire destroyed the office of a charity too

For anyone still following this story the charged admits the offence but appears to deny the act was related to the MP.

Yeah I'm reading it as the graffiti isn't attributed to him but the arson is but it reads as if he's a homeless guy who may have started the fire?

i.e. graffiti sounds Gaza related but arson sounds random.

It was confirmed here and elsewhere that the graffiti is historic.

From that it does look like the office being there was coincidental to a lot of other stuff.

Not that it makes it any better.
