Luton Airport - Fast Track, Prebook Security or Wing It
Discussion
We're flying out from Luton next Monday lunchtime and they've got a couple of options to potentially make the airport experience slightly less tedious. Fast Track security costs £4 if bought on-line in advance, alternatively there's an option to pre-book a 30 minute slot for £0, but that's just a different queue with potentially more people in it.
Has anyone used either of these options recently and was it worth doing? I would hope that mid-day on a Monday will be relatively quiet, but I'd be quite happy to spend 2 * £4 to save 15 minutes in a queue.

Lunch time is usually pretty quiet there in my experience. We went on holiday last month, so middle of the school holidays and there was no queue at the Easyjet bag drop, and no queue at security at all. Probably the quickest journey through an airport I've ever had, especially for a holiday flight.
Busy airports are properly geared up for security now. New scanners mean people don't need to unload laptopms and liquids from bags, dramatically improving throughput.
Only gotcha is if your bag needs a manual check, so just make sure nothing obvious will trigger a search and you'll be through in no time.

Fast track security.
Oh how we smugly passed along that hallowed segregated channel to be met with just 2 security scanners serving a queue of people.
Meanwhile, the dozen or so passengers in the "normal" area whizzed along their snaking barriers to take their pick of 8 empty security lanes.
Complete waste of money.

Stansted fasttrack was 5 times slower that 'peon class' at heathrow or gatwick...
