Moss removal treatments

Im sure this has been discussed before but I have scaffolding on both sides of my gaff up at the moment and I'd like to make use of it and do my roof as its never been cleaned/cleared since being built.

Going up I've noticed a lot of lichen and moss.

Has anyone used a cleaner and recommend one?

And to apply has anyone used a jet wash snow foam attachment to get the reach to the middle before then washed down without pressured water?

My go to for moss on the driveway is BAC50, can't see any reason why it wouldn't work on the roof

5L is about £30 and diluted down 1:8 makes 40L

Looks heavy this stuff needing PPE etc, I've not got massive volumes of moss, just thought I could give it a clear up.

My worry is I'll be applying it at roof height so can't be too in control of where it flies off to!

PPE is important, but it's undiluted "Patio Magic" which you can buy on the high street, so not particularly scary.

For most moss killers (even something as simple as iron sulphate or sodium percarbonate) just watch out for where the rinsing rainwater goes, you don't want it going into ponds.

For clumps of moss, a scraper is good though can take a while.

Once you get rid of that, BAC50 or the "spray and away" type cleaners will do, with the bonus that you don't have to mess about trying to rinse it off.

I think some folks use strong sodium hypochorite which acts fast but needs rinsing.

You've had the correct answer several times now.

If there are any bigger lumps then a careful mechanical scrape or similar to loosen and remove.

Then BAC50 or one of the proprietary chemical using the same biocide, such as Patio Magic.

If you don't do the mechanical removal of the bigger lumps it doesn't matter in the long run, you will just end up using more chemical, and may need another application which will be awkward if the scaffolding has been dismantled.

Don't get alarmed about the PPE, it's not like you have to wear bio chemical protection suits as if there was a radiation leak. Just be sensible.

I did my roof 10 years back and it's just starting to show a bit of moss again. May give a quick spray.

I used patio magic before without PPE, still here.

Ordered a metal telescopic brush that just arrived, there isn't a lot in the middle of the roof, it just sits on what I can only find as defined as the Mansard section of the roof.
