I know this may sound demented to some more modern people but I really miss standing on old terracing watching a football match. I used to go to Man Utd games as a kid with my friends and stand on the Stretford End or United Road every other weekend in the 80's when it was about £1.30 to get in, I got more dinner money than that back then.
Sometimes it was pretty dreary and you had plenty of space but other times against Liverpool and City etc it was electric, you were squashed in like sardines and when (if) we scored you got pushed down about 10 steps and thrown all over the place. I mentioned this to a younger friend who has only ever known seated stadiums and when I showed him some old videos of terracing and the crowd swaying around he was aghast and said why would someone ever choose that over a nice comfortable seat.
I would really like to show him what he is missing so, I know its a long shot but is there anywhere in the world that still has football terracing and big games, I'm thinking a big derby in Brazil or something like that. It would be great to experience it one more time.

Depends on the terrace, but I prefer standing yes for sports stuff, sitting bores meSometimes it was pretty dreary and you had plenty of space but other times against Liverpool and City etc it was electric, you were squashed in like sardines and when (if) we scored you got pushed down about 10 steps and thrown all over the place. Go to Exeter City. The Big Bank at one end is the largest standing terrace in the EFL and holds about 4,000.Sometimes it was pretty dreary and you had plenty of space but other times against Liverpool and City etc it was electric, you were squashed in like sardines and when (if) we scored you got pushed down about 10 steps and thrown all over the place. Ah right, I thought it had to be all seater stadiums in the UK now, I am out of touch though I haven't been to a game in 20 years, way too sanitised for me now. The main reason I quit was when a steward told me to sit down like he was the big boss.
No, it's only the top two divisions. Everything from League One downwards can still have proper terracing.Frane Selak said:

I did Boca v River with my son in 2018. We had seats but looking at the fans on the terrace behind the goal, no thanks. I used to love terracing especially as an away fan in the Scoreboard Paddock at Man U. Just rammed in. Or the Clock End away at Arsenal. But after Hillsborough, I went off the whole idea.
Anyway, here's me in the Clock End Highbury, August 1984. Just mayhem. Ended up about 100ft away from where I was before the goal went in.

We have some standing sections at Spurs but believe it had to be licensed. Think the away section is standing too?TwigtheWonderkid said:
They use the lock up seats in the yellow wall at Borussia Dortmund and it's great. For a big game, they sell 2 tickets per seat with no sitting allowed. I've been in there for a no seating allowed game v Bayern. Just amazing. 12000 seats on that terrace becomes 24000 standing.
Sadly not allowed under UK law.48k said:
