Sounds like Jonathan Palmer is doing something to save it and not just for commercial reasons of the mag. See his comments below.


Over recent years I have been concerned with the reduction in coverage of UK motorsport in printed media, and I am determined to reverse that trend to reflect the incredible amount of national motorsport we have in this country.

He also owns a company that runs race series that race at venues other than his own.

I for one think it's good news some one with a commercial brain and a love of motorsport taking over something that is likely to go bust otherwise .

Hopefully it will focus on uk motorsport than than just f1 like autosport turned onto

As someone who worked there briefly a long time ago I hope it is the case too, a better outlet for club level stuff is very much needed. I also hope it does not become an MSV mouthpiece, I imagine there will be aspects of this, but I hope minimal

First issue under the new MSV ownership today. Might see if I can find a copy; havent subscribed for years but JP seems to want to return it to its former status.

Fair play to the guy, he is a businessman but also about as keyed into national motorsport, trends and feeling as anyone around.

I suspect Palmer has acquired the paper for a modest price, there can't have been much value left in it (I never see it for sale anywhere).

Even if they just start selling it at the MSV circuits and getting mug punters (like myself) to sign up to a subscription then it could quickly become a going concern.

Great minds "..complimentary copies of the publication will be available to event programme purchasers at both events, while stocks last. These will also be made available to event competitors, officials and volunteer marshals at no additional cost. Copies will also be on general sale in the circuits’ retail shops...

I am pretty impressed with the content so far, although the distribution needs some work - both last weeks edition and this weeks arrived on Wednesday this week!

they should so some kind of subscrition deal through the MSA where all licence holders get some discount that should boost subscription levels.
The best thing about it used to be the ads in the back and the club race reports!
