I have a history of X3s starting with a 2005 2.0d, then an '08 3.0d, and a 2012 35d. During lockdown the 35d was just sitting on the drive and depreciating in front of me, so I sold it to a Motorway type company and went back to an '08 3.0d again.

After a few quid on maintenance I've now had that for a few years and nearly 40k miles. It needs more work doing on the front suspension and that would take the spend over nearly 5 years as more than I paid for the car......

As a result I'm thinking bangernomics isn't working very well. It's a good car and has only really let me down once so there's part of me that thinks we should just keep up the maintenance.

The other part of me is looking at the very tail end of F25 production and early G01. The key would be a 3.0 diesel and I'm considering that the F25 was peak 'basic' tech. None of the complex systems such as adblue, lane assist, digital dash etc etc. and could be an ideal purchase. However, finding one with an AUC warranty is difficult. There's many more 30d and 40ds in the dealer network.

The real question is - how reliable is all this tech? My 35d was a fabulous car, real grunt and comfort. I see so many threads about adblue issues and dealers unable to reset sensors for the most insignificant reasons.

Feedback from owners please?

TLDR: is the G01 really any good?

As you are finding, at the age that they are, I doubt you will ever find one with an AUC warranty & even the AUC warranties aren't always what they are cracked up to be.

There's a private one on AT and a couple of 35d on the AUC site in the last couple of weeks, so not unheard of.

Porsche have 2015 Macans on their site so I don't see why BMW shouldn't, apart from the obvious lack of decent stock.

What's the change in AUC warranty then?

Another question - difficult to find a confirmed answer using google

Will 18s fit a 40d?

Check the drivers door pillar sticker, they normally list all available sizes complete with a snowflake marked winter option.

That's why it's difficult - I don't have one to look at
