Do I need pink plasterboard?

I'm removing some very 80s plaster arches from our master bedroom. The arches are in the transition between the main part of the bedroom and a dressing room and so above them is a catnic lintel.

The sides of the lintel are plastered directly but on the bottom I will need to put a piece of plasterboard. I have some leftover board in the garage.

I know if you are boxing in an RSJ you are supposed to use pink plasterboard but in this situation, do I need a piece just for the bottom edge? It seems a bit pointless and there obviously wasn't pink board there before, just a plasterboard and wood arch frame.

Any help much appreciated as always (the guy doing the final plastering is on his honeymoon so I don't want to disturb him)

Double board it.

It’s very rare that pink is required in domestic properties. Standard 12.5mm is generally accepted as giving half hour protection, which is all that is required.

I would double board and overlap the joints. If you single board it has to be perfect.

To be honest I’ve a bedroom over a garage and I double pink boarded it!
