Used EV for 20-25k
Discussion
Hi all
I've had EVs for the past 5-6 years and am completely sold on them - they work perfectly for us as a family so I won't go back to ICE. I've always had leases based on what I could find at the time, which means we've had a pug 208, a Maxus T90EV, and now a Honda E:NY1. All of them bargains in their own way but none would have been my first choice but for the value.
After Xmas we need to change cars again and this time I think I'd like to go for something I really want rather than chasing the deal (although I'll keep an eye on the lease mega-thread just in case). With about 20-25k to spend I want a bigger, faster EV that we can use day to day but can also do the occasional long run to Scotland for visiting family etc for the 4 of us and a dog. So something with a hatch back, can take a roof box, decent charging rate etc.
I like the idea of buying something that's already suffered the massive initial depreciation hit of year 1-2, but which might hold it's value to a reasonable level over the next 3-4 years (I know..
)
I've basically narrowed it down to the following options, wondered if there's anything obvious I'm missing
Kia EV6 AWD - 25k ISH for a 22-23 plate, advantage of still having 4 years warranty
Polestar 2 - smaller boot but I think they're really smart. Would only buy if I could get 3 years of approved warranty on it
Ford Mach-e ER AWD. Probably not as technically good as the two above but I really like the look. Again, warranty issue because I'd be buying one aged 3 and the Ford extended warranty looks really pricey
Jag I-Pace... Yeah I know it might be a really stupid idea but it's a hell of a lot of car for your money if you get a good one. Again, would need the Jag warranty.
I'm hoping any of these would hold 40-50% of their value over the next 3 years or so, and I can't get close to that value on a lease for any of them with the current prices. I figure this is going to cost me in the region of 4-5k per year conservatively - buy for 25 and be able to sell for 10-12 in 3 years time...?
Any views/opinions? Is the Jag a really bad idea? Is the ev6 just the obvious choice really?
Thanks all

The Mach e is a good car but the extended warranty isn't the cheapest as (but you'll get a years AUC warranty to begin with) you've already found out but for me only the EV6 is the better pick:

The way the screen is just slapped on the dash in the Mustang would drive me mad, looks awful. Each of the other cars linked all seem to have much better integration in the cabinhttps://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202507154...

I like my Polestar 2 LRDM. Check the rear seat room is enough for your needs, and check you're ok with the ride (a bit 'tough' but you get used to it). The google maps nav is a strength, really makes charging easy on long trips. You'll get two years warranty if you buy approved used. But overall looks good, quick, drives nicely, comfortable seats, nice interior, decent range, and seem to be fairly reliable. Definitely worth a look, although the others on your list are probably more accommodating.
I presume you're discounting an M3 or MY because of Elon, otherwise they're still best in class.
£25k I'd probably consider this smart car

Only a tesla is quicker at this price, great build quality, nice interior. Range not too bad, good fun to drive.

Thanks all, much appreciated.
Yes sorry should have said - no to Tesla, because I just can't do it. Although even without Elon the S is the only one that I think is good looking, and that's a key feature for me too.
I4 is a good shout, will have a look at those too - the warranty issue is going to be a major deciding factor I think. Not really a fan of the ix3 - trying to avoid the SUV looks and steer more towards the 'chunky coupe' style which I why I always ruled out the Mercs and Audi e-tron
Brabus I hadn't even heard of until that link! Funky little car, need to ponder on whether I like it...
