New Car Advice, please
Discussion
Hi,
I am wanting to get a new car.
Currently have an MG ZTT, diesel, auto. Car is fine, but starting to shown signs of some upcoming costly repairs, albeit what would be maintenance, due to age. Another issue is the car sits quite low, so with getting older, getting in and out becoming an issue.
I like and need the estate size, due to passengers in the car and stuff carried, car is full on many occasions. From what I understand, to get a higher seating position, from a more modern perspective, I'd be looking at an SUV, as opposed to an estate.
Requirements I can think of (if possible):
Any advice or thoughts welcome, thank you.

Requirements I can think of (if possible):
- Most important is seating position/ride height
- Good to drive and comfortable seats. Not too fussed if leather, just nice place to be
- Reliability - my only car and used daily
- Not mega expensive to repair - I mean day to day sutff, servicing etc, as I'll largely be invested in buying the car. No stupid size wheels, where tyres are £200 each
- Mileage is 8-10k pa - regular 40 mile round trips, mainly motorway
- Budget up to £10k
- Tax and insurance reasonable - currently pay £400 odd pa tax, so if can get that down would be nice
- Decent size boot - I fill my boot quite regular for work and trips away
- I like diesel engines - the power, the torque and mpg over petrol. I appreciate more modern diesel cars have more to go wrong and can be expensive, whilst petrol engines have also come on a lot
- Conventional automatic - can drive manual, but got used to and like auto now
- Proper handbrake and key for ignition - might just be set in my ways here, as know a lot of more modern cars and electric switches and keyless, just never had it and have thoughts of costly repairs when they go wrong!
- Believe it or not, use my CD player, but open to more modern setup
- Reverse sensors and cruise control would also be good, or uprated setups of front sensors and reverse camera maybe
- Ideally a towbar or can get one reasonably enough, due to bike rack
Any advice or thoughts welcome, thank you.
