When to start panicking
Discussion
If the blood was bright red and "fresh" it's a better sign than dark clots. Hopefully just a tear and it'll heal by itself.
Make sure you drink plenty of fluids and up your fibre intake.
If they find something scary during the colonoscopy, remember you're in the best place possible and they've found it nice and early.

Had this, it turned out to be nothing really, they found a polyp and removed it there and then, in front of a dozen students, they may ask you that too, they have to learn somehow.
Anything more caught early is never so bad, quick reaction from you, quick service from them, wait and see, it could be something of nothing.
I do understand the panic though, was offered and took a lung scan being a smoker, being requested to go for another very quickly, then 3 month intervals did cause some panic, now it is annually, had one four weeks ago, they said if I have not been contacted within 4 weeks, see you next year.
Good luck.
Definitely worth having it checked out. Maybe it's a bum grape that's burst, maybe it's something more serious that needs attention and you're doing the right thing by going to the docs about it.
Obviously you're worried that having someone pop something "up there" turns you gay. But I've met a gay and they say that's not how it works.
Joking aside if it's something like cancer it certainly sounds scary, but knowing someone well who has gone through it, the surgery is very routine as far as the doctors are concerned and it sounds like if this is the first sign and you're already getting seen to, your options look good. Obligatory not a doctor, but if caught early it's certainly treatable. My person didn't get seen to as early as he possibly should have done, literally rushed him into surgery and under the knife the same day and he's doing OK now.
So to answer your question: Now is not the time to start panicking. Now is the time to be sensibly and calmly talking to your doctors and listening to what they have to say in order to figure out what the issue is. Then calmly following their advice, which I'm sure you will do.

The up there piece had seriously not even entered my head, I am more concerned with what they are looking for and might find!Obviously you're worried that having someone pop something "up there" turns you gay. But I've met a gay and they say that's not how it works.

I went through the same in May this year, weird stuff going on down there, went to the docs, stool sample came back clear but FIT test was off the scale.
2 week priority for a colonoscopy (June) and was pretty much given the all clear there and then, had to wait 4 weeks for the biopsy results which came back clear also.
Looks like I have IBD and have an appointment this week, still blood now so I am hoping I'll be prescribed something this week.
You'll have to go through a few days of bowel prep and laxatives ahead of the colonoscopy, which in itself isn't pleasant (find the agent picolax thread). Then the procedure itself was pretty uncomfortable for me, I just had gas and air, but if I have to have it again I'd opt for something stronger.
