Converted VW Sharan or Seat Alhambra
Discussion
Before kids we had a converted Fiat Ulysse. Took all the seats out of the back. A place in Sheffield made us a custom R&R bed with seatbelts. I made a removable pod with 2 burner camp stove, 12v fridge and storage that bolted onto the middle seat mountings.
It took us all the way to the South of France (slowly) and was a lot of fun. Only changed to a T5 when we had twins and needed more room.

The 'old' version with removable seats?
We had a 2001 Ford Galaxy (same vehicle), the one where all 5 rear seats are removable. Never used it as a camper but was useful as a van, carrying kitchen tables, washing machines, beds etc and I could even squeeze a motorbike into the back, trickiest part was the reduced height at the tailgate, meaning mirrors etc. needed to be removed and, obviously no standing room
But a good, solid, flat floor that you could no doubt get things made using seat base mechanisms to enable quick fitting/removal and stop them rattling about plus, the front seats will spin round to face backwards.
Worked fairly, not sure on the later models that have seats that fold into the floor, maybe more work to convert?
