Why do you think it's not a VW? The rear vent is pretty distinctive. Looks like a bay window van missing the front.

Indeed, it must be 40 years since I last saw one of these on fire at the side of the motorway - actually it was two, during the same trip to France, one on the M25 and the other near Paris. Poor sods, it would have been more effective pissing on it than using those tiny fire extinguishers. flames
