John o' Groats - Route / Hotel Suggestion Return Journey

I'm planning a 2-3 day solo trip next week in my Elise from Cheshire up to John o' Groats.

Given the journey time up there, it makes absolute sense to stay in Groats for the first night.

As for the return journey, I'm looking for some lovely suggestions of where I should route for a second night stay e.g. Speyside, Skye etc.

Any area and (recommended) hotel suggestions that include stunning scenery along the way are greatly appreciated

There's not much in Groats, I'd be heading to Mackays in Wick.

Dornoch has a far greater choice of accommodation and eateries - there's almost nowt at JoG.

From there, I would head West over to Ullapool then down to somewhere like Invermoriston for a stay before returning to Cheshire.
