Back to Porsche - just bought a 993 Turbo.

Hello all, thought I would let you all know that I have returned from the land of prancing horses to my first love, Porsches. I picked up a RHD '97 R 993 T4 yesterday, and very happy with it I am!! Tis a very nice thing indeed, Zenith blue, with factory Turbo S air scoops in the rear wheel arches.
Been hanging out on Ferrarichat.com whilst I was with 355, so will probably be on here more from now on I would have thought!
Its going to be tucked up in my garage until the weekend, will take some pictures and post them up.
Driving impressions compared to the 355 to follow!

Cheers chaps, am looking forward to this weekend to give it 'large' and see what she is all about! Took a few hours to get used to the RHD offset and floor mounted pedals again!
Got to say that the 355 was an easier car to drive - the 993 Turbo is a bit of a beast with the amount of power it delivers, 993's generally make you concentrate more when driving, it all came flooding back to me from the C2 days!
It feels almost go-kart like in comparison to the 355 in terms of the size (the 355 is HUGE!) and the way it responds to steering input. Just wish it sounded the same, thats the one thing I am going to really miss from the Ferrari - words cannot describe 8500rpm of Marenello's finest through a tunnel!
On another note, I have some great pictures of a 355 ablaze that I will try to post here - if anyone wants to see them. I was heading in convoy to a Ferrari meet when it went up, one of the other guys in convoy who was in a Challenge car with fire extinguisher stopped to try and help (unfortunately could not stop the fire taking hold) and had a camera with him.

OK so what am I doing wrong - have hosted them on Webshots, made the album public access, have prefixed and suffixed the links (for eg as below)with pic and /pic in square brackets..... Help!

I thought it was pretty good to be honest. Are you going to put a Porsche warranty on it?
Not sure - I have great faith in 993's, so will have a think about it.
Spoke to Porsche Centre in Cardiff who replaced the Turbo, exhaust and cats under warranty. They said the seal failed on the turbo and blew oil through not only the turbo unit but exhaust and cats so replaced the lot, cost picked up by Porsche. Its only got 39k on the clock as well!
Its also had a major 24k service at Porsche Cardiff 2 weeks ago (engine drop and all spark plugs), its had a new clutch, discs / pads and new P-Zero's all round, so all in all I am a fairly happy chappy.
When I was there completing the paperwork, there was literally one phone call after the other for the car! Had just come out in Top Marques that morning.

Just go to the photo you want to link to, right click, properties, copy the location starting from http all the way through to .jpg. Type [pic] paste in the location, then type [/pic] and it should work.

ooh, shame about the fez, good news about the porker though!
The only problems with a 993 turbo are:
You always feel as though you're going 60 when in fact you're doing a ton.
The smoothness of the torque delivery can sometimes convince you it's lost half of its power.
The grin you get from planting it up through gears never receeds and you always hope the next set of lights are red.

Now there's the problem..... I have 9 points on my licence for speeding already! 6 come off in Feb next year, so have to be a reall really good boy until then.
Funnily enough they were all in my C2, managed to keep my nose clean in the Fezza. Now I'll have no jokes about Fezza owners cruising around at 20mph all day and never using their cars
