BMW 220i Cabriolet F22/F23 Stuck Boot

In quiet desperation now about a faulty boot lock on my wife's 220i cab. Any ideas anyone?

- Boot is fully closed but will not open. No unlock noise from key or unlock mechanism
- Factory fitting diagram shows optional emergency release in the boot was not fitted
- Rear seats are not collapsable with no parcel shelf


I had limited success half opening the roof and starting to access the boot via the roof cubby, but after a few minutes it engages a safety mode and closed the roof on me

Anyone know of a service mode for the roof itself or have any other suggestions?

I'm not too far from buying a new rear bootlid and taking a hole saw to it.

On my E88 1 series convertible the roof has sometimes not gone fully down usually close and reopen solves it. Battery not fully charged could cause it so do it with engine running or try a battery charger on the terminals under the bonnet
