Ah, at last . . . some sense. Hoping this for a year now. Good news just before closing down, finishing my beer and hit the sack.

The AJP 32 valver would be great but I've read so much stuff about that it just couldn't be possible. I'm pretty damn sure some Yank V8 will fit nicely and will get the job done. Blown S6, bolt on a Volumex kinda thingy and torque will make you spin in 6th gear . . . About 400, maybe 450 horses will be enough for 1100 kgs . . . AWD, my a***!

Sweet dreams.

I dont understand. Im surely wrong, as everything I know is hearsay, but:

1) After spending 7 years (ish?) developing the speed 6, which is 'almost' 100% sorted, why would they suddenly decide to spend an absolute fortune developing a new V8 having invested so much in the 6-pot?
2) PW admitted the cerbera was the biggest mistake he ever made. IIRC because a) The cost to produce it was high, and b) demand was lower than the tuscan.

Someone tell me Im wrong.

Whats this about the cerbera 2 moulds in the factory though?

edited to add... i made some comments about the Spd6 in sprints caption competition, was told the factory wont allow the magazine to run comments of that nature, and they were removed. Still fighting for it rep, it seems!

ROFL..good call

The thing is, the speed 8 engine design rights are still owned by Melling, Melling also has the designs for the 32v heads. TVR recently turned down a proposal from Melling. TVR used Melling and threw him away, it would cost a hefty sum for TVR to bring the AJPV8 back in 32v form, and Melling wont allow them to cheat him on this engine like what happened with the speed 6.

My guess its gonna be another engine, unless they have gone back to Melling.

Time will tell...

Oh yes

If the new cerbera replacement is a V8, prices will tumble, to the same level as griffs/chims though... so I doubt IMO we'll see them go below 10k for a good 5-6 years yet.... I think (not a depreciation market analyst mind you, hehe)

Cant see it myself. The TVR Cerbera is the first Cerbera, its the one with the AJP8 - TVR's only race engine (the S6 was always a road engine first) - and I honestly doubt they'll be able to have such freedom with the design, particularily of the interior.

The Cerbera is a car that has "classic" potential, im amazed prices havent completely firmed up already to be honest - though we are seeing some of the newer Cerb V8's appreciating already.

I honestly think the only reason Cerberas are so low priced is down to the newer S6 variants not shifting... then lowering thier prices and making it difficult for the 4.2's that are four years older to shift at the same price. As soon as the S6 is accepted as reliable, I have no doubt that the Cerberas values (reguardless of engine) will stabilise or increase.

I'm pretty sure Cerbera prices will fall lower... there is an eventual valley where it will settle... but following the TVR norm, prices will go down as new models hit the market, especially with another V8 replacement, in the same fashion as the griffs/chims...

Plastic and rare engines dont hold good value, now if we were talking Ferrari or Porsche, then different ball game.

Prices have only stabalised IMO due to the used market for Cerbie V8's being so buyont, but once the new V8's come out, it'll only be a matter of time.... I'd estimate, in 3 years time, it would be pretty normal to see Cerbies being sold around the 10k bracket.

I cant see Cerberas under 10k though im afraid. Just look at Griffith prices, and if you knew the amount of money/ work it takes to get a Griffith to go/handle/stop comparably to a Cerb you would be amazed. Granted the roof doesnt come off on a Cerb, but it has the advantage of being TVR's only modern 2+1 and a half...

Near future classic IMHO.
