Near me, for yet more digging up stuff. Heavily used major roads, leading to the north circular etc (NW London). It’s been absolute carnage of course, as usual. It’s stupidly busy even when the normal lights are operational.

Overnight the lights have gone out and guess what - absolutely zero and I mean zero traffic. Everyone approaching slows down, hesitates, gives way etc and no traffic is had. (I know it’s Sunday but it still gets busy).

Absurd.

That happens with a lot of failed traffic lights - I guess you miss out on the pedestrian cycle but it still shows how badly set up the majority of traffic management actually is.

I saw a new record the other day, 6 way lights!
There's hardly any traffic round there either, and I can't even figure out what the 6 ways are.

I often think, wrongly, they put stuff like this deliberately at junctions where you can cause maximum disruption.

It certainly feels that way, but is more likely to be a crossroads is where all the unions and underground junctions meet too.

It never used to be like this, how did roadworks cope back in the day, I bet they didn't sit in vans as much
