My wife's,one lady owner Saxo VTR is about to need a bit too much effort to get through it's next MOT.
She doesn't want it to go for scrap, she's had it since new, can anyone suggest where we might find a good home for it?
Thanks
Simon.

If you haven't already there are many Saxo/106 fans on the usual Facebook groups with many people looking for projects or you could just put it on ebay/car and classic and see what happens.

I have a VTS but would be interested in a VTR - show us some pictures!

Had one of these as my first car back in 2016.

If I wasnt currently getting my ass kicked by every bill that could possibly exist and minimum wage, I would have considered buying it for the nostalgia

Very nice, there can’t be many standard ones left! I appears thought they looked good in that blue as well.
I have a big soft spot for older Citroens, how bad is the MOT list looking?
Having put a new rear axle on my AX for last year’s MOT(and new sills in the next one by the look of it) I’m sure there’s nothing insurmountable!

Interesting to see just how many Major and Dangerous defects have 'emerged' in the space of 12 months and only 4000 miles use ....either a very fastidious MOT tester / garage looking for work, or the previous testers have been quite slack?

Turret needing welding isnt great but doesn't look terrible in the pictures.

Lot of the other items are nits and sts. Have you had the work priced by a garage other than the one slaughtering it on the test?

Apparently the welding is easy , doesn't require any disassembly and access is easy.
The intermittent emission issue, seems like a poor earth, it's hardly been a problem, until they left it ticking over for 45 minutes,is that normal? The engine light only came on at the MOT!
I reset the light and it hasn't come on again!
The gaiter for the steering rack isn't an issue, except he felt the rack would probably need to come out to fit it?

Lovely car.

Bad garage.

I would recommend a second opinion, whether decide to sell or not. Worth more with an MOT, naturally!

To be honest, the market will decide if it goes for scrap.

Drop it on an owners page on FB with a low price and someone who is into them will no doubt take it.

As you have committed to sell it and drive Aston's i doubt its good value to mess about putting it right so you can make a few extra hundred.

I cant see it ever been worth much, they would have taken off buy now and its 100k+ miles.

It looks a lovely car but am I missing something? Others commented on the MOT fails but it’s not posted.

Hi everyone, just for clarity,my Aston is 92 years old and I inherited it / was gifted it ,33 years ago.
I don't throw things away,I repair them.
But the garage were advising us to scrap the Saxo after 23 years of use.

After giving my last 106 to my niece, garage wanted to scrap it after an MOT fail.

I took it back, spent 100 quid on it, fresh MOT, and gave it to someone else.

It's had 2 owners since then, still going.

I'm sure you'll find a taker for it who will want to keep it going as long as you're not seeking silly money.
