Show Facebook pages in order
Discussion
firstly I'll admit I don't know how to use Facebook, I never post on it and have no idea what feeds are etc. nor do I really want to know. But just occasionally I might check a page for information, like now when the water is off in random different areas so any info by people might be useful in planning my day.
But when I look at a local group the posts are never in chronological order, the most recent one is say 3 minutes old then the one under that will be from 12 hrs ago, then 11hrs and then back to 2 minutes again. I'm not talking about replies to posts, I mean actual new posts. It seems bizarre that anyone would want it any other way than in chronological order with the most recent first but for the life of me I cant see any way to change the settings.

It's really annoying to me too, but it is one of the group settings. Generally there are three options : "New Posts" which does what you want, latest posts at the top, "Recent Activity", which shows the posts with most recent comments similar to a forum like this one, and "Most Relevant", which appears to be entirely random though I'm sure FB have some sort of algorithm to it. It annoys me greatly when a group admin doesn't select the first one as the default. When you open a group, though, you can change it. When you've got the group open, you'll see this menu:
Click on the arrow alongside "New Posts" (this is the default in my club's group) and you'll see the three options.
You could petition the group admin to change the default, but as far as I'm aware there's nothing you can do to change it from your end. If you find something, please post it here.

Try installing the Facebook Purity addon: there are lots of configuration options including News Sort Order & Comment Sort Order.
Just tried that and it didn't make any difference, thanks anyway but I've just had an epiphany, I need to be part of the facebook club to get that little menu, once I clicked join the group then it was there. So I'm now a member of the local psycho facebook club. Hmmm, now I've got them all in order its just post after post of "local business's" do they just spam the group all day with repeat posts to keep them at the top? How do they find time to do the actual work, I wouldn't mind but when you look at their pictures its hard to tell if they are the before or after ones half the time.
Took me ages to figure this out too, but now I have, I can tell you that
1. you need to be a member of the group to have the ability to sort by newest first.
2. you can avoid all the menu clicking by adding /?sorting_setting=CHRONOLOGICAL to the end of the long group number in your URL bar and then saving it as a bookmark.
But as you've found, any group that is moderated is a waste of time because it's 12-24 hours later before your post is approved asking if anyone else's internet is down, and all the posts that have auto-approval are the local businesses who spam their tanning studios and jetwash driveways/guttering ads 10x a day which the admin got sick of manually approving.

I don t understand Facebook.
I have it for one specific group and thought I would use it more. I don t simply because it s crap, and defies logic.
Everything is out of order so that you stay on it longer looking for what you want, and they feed you more adverts.I have it for one specific group and thought I would use it more. I don t simply because it s crap, and defies logic.
You might also see some other content that you stick around for, so they can feed you more ads.
Facebook monitors what you stop scrolling on, and if you stay there long enough, the algorithm feeds you more of the same, so they can show you more ads.
It's a cesspit that people use through habit, not because it's the best tool for the job

I have FB Purity and it's OK, but an FB friend kept sharing posts from his local estate agent so I put it in the FBP block list yet it still comes up somehow. I don't want to block his own posts, just these particular ones. And I had to disable UBlock Origin as it was stopping any Facebook feed content from showing, and when I went on their web site to look at whether it was a known bug, there were so many hoops to jump through before it could be reported, it wasn't worth the hassle.
But yes, local groups vary in terms of what content they have - some of mine are just the same old businesses over and over again, some are useful, some are just the same "clearing out my grandmom's basement, everything free" when the photos are clearly from the US, over and over.

Try the Facebook Container extension - I am running UBO without issue.
