Hi everyone.

I have previously posted about this issue but wanted some fresh eyes on it if possible. Our @1700 ish house needs 4 double windows refurbished. They are Cast Metal framed, with diamond glass panes. A couple of the panes are broken and all the frames need looking at.

I have a quote for the 4 double frames (one opening window, 1 fixed in each double) to be removed, shot blasted, welded if required and then powder coating before being re installed.

Can anyone put some figures on what this should cost? The quote I have is a touch eye watering in my opinion so wanted to try and sense check it if possible.

Thanks

Brian

You are probably being quoted a lot for someone to manage the whole job.

If you break it down into tasks, a lot of things get cheaper.

But welding cast iron is not a trivial process. You could have a lot of cost there or very little.

Thanks for the reply but it is Grade 2 listed so replacement is not an option. I will have my work cut out getting LBC just for a repair if it involves removing the window frames.

Cheers
