When I bought my 2011 L322 Vogue SE 4.4TDV8 back in June, the adjustment to my premium on swapping cars equated to a renewal premium in the region of £400 per year.

Great, though I.

Move forwards 3.5 months, and two weeks before the renewal falls due I check my email from my insurer to find that the premium has increased to around £1,100 per year.

Not so great, thought I.

I talked to the insurer, and the useful info they gave me was that of the 11 insurers they used previouly, 9 had declined to quote this time around.
So that means I have suddenly grown horns, or the car has, or something else.
Nothing in my driving record has changed, I still live at the same house, do the same job, same annual mileage.
The car hasn't changed, it has done about 2,000 miles in that time and is still the same in other respects.
No more points or accidents.
Insurance geezer is baffled.

I am baffled too, so I go to talk to my wife, who is lovely but not exactly brain of Britain.
I explain the problem, and quick as a flash she says "oh, it will be all that hacking problem that has been all over the news".

I never like to admit that a woman is correct, as any married man knows, it's a dangerous step to take........but is she?
Let's be fair, right now if I had a £3000 crash in my car it could be off the road for an unknown period of time waiting for parts fron JLR.
Which means for the insurer that if I had ticked the courtesy car box on my policy, which I had, then they would be in for several months car hire costs for a Range Rover or equivalent. The car would be a total write off.

Does the PH collective think she could be right, or are we back to insurers hating Range Rovers again?
I live in the Nottinghamshire countryside and the car is parked at home out of sight of the road.
